Week One: Let’s Kick Off the Buzz

Welcome to Week One of the Advance Reader Club! This is our soft-launch week—the time when you help set the tone, build momentum, and introduce Girl With the Gifts to the world in an authentic, exciting way.

Below are your Week One tasks and prompts. Feel free to choose the ones that feel most natural for you.

1. Share the Cover Reveal

This week, please share the book cover on your preferred social platforms. You can screenshot it from the email or download it from the media kit.

Your post can include things like:

  • What you love about the cover

  • Your first impression or vibe you get from it

  • What element immediately caught your eye

  • Why it made you excited to read the book

  • Why you’re excited to support an indie author (see section below!)

  • Share a selfie with the book

Optional caption starters:

  • “Okay, I am obsessed with this cover…”

  • “This is the book I’ll be talking about all week…”

  • “Supporting indie authors is my favorite thing—and THIS cover???”

Encourage people to react in comments (emoji, guesses, questions). Engagement helps visibility.

2. Read the Back Cover Blurb

Take a moment to read the official back cover blurb included with your ARC. This week, you don’t have to read the whole book yet—just absorb the setup.

Then, if you feel inspired, share:

  • What part of the blurb intrigued you most

  • What question the story made you ask

  • Any theories you’re already forming

  • Why you think others will want to read it

3. Why Supporting an Indie Author Matters

This is a wonderful moment to explain why you’re excited to be part of an indie author’s launch. Readers love hearing the human side of book publishing.

You can share things like:

  • Indie authors rely heavily on community support—every share, comment, and review truly moves the needle.

  • You love discovering new voices before they blow up.

  • It feels meaningful to help a writer bring their debut into the world.

  • Indie books are passion projects—you’re excited to champion one.

  • You get to be part of the journey from the very beginning.

You can also gently remind your followers:
You can pre-order now! Use your special code for
$5 off.

Pre-orders are HUGE for independent authors and help the book’s success from day one.

4. Engage With Me and Each Other

The more we interact with each other’s posts, the further the book travels across social algorithms.

  • Follow my Instagram, Facebook, X, and Twitter

  • Like, comment, and support fellow ARC members.
